With that, Biden asked supporters to focus on what is at stake in the battle for re-election, in which he will face former president Donald Trump again in November.

During a reception at billionaire Haim Saban’s Los Angeles home, the president said a Trump victory could lead to a national abortion ban, more efforts to undo Obamacare and a deterioration of America’s reputation on the world stage.

Additionally, Biden also directly addressed concerns about his age — a persistent issue that has become a stumbling block to his re-election hopes.

“I may not run as fast as I used to,” said the president, who is 81 years old. “But I tell you… I’ve been around long enough to know what’s going on.”

Biden’s campaign and the Democratic National Committee announced the fundraising of US$42 million from 422,000 donors in January.

As a result, the president already has US$130 million in cash for his campaign, the largest amount ever raised by a Democratic candidate at the start of an election year.
