In his first speech after winning the Republican primaries, Donald Trump promised that if elected, he would close the border with Mexico, the former president stated that the country is the victim of an invasion by “terrorist immigrants”.

“We are going to close the border. Because right now we have an invasion, of millions and millions of people coming to our country. I can’t imagine why they think this is a good thing, this is a very bad thing. We can’t have that”, he declared.

Trump stated that a large part of the immigrants were coming from “prisons and psychiatric hospitals”, however he did not present any proof. The Republican also promised to break the record for deportations never seen since Dwight Eisenhower, president who expelled more than 1 million immigrants in the 1950s.
“Immigrants are coming from prisons, from countries that no one knows, from mental hospitals. We’re going to have to deport them, we have to have a level of deportation that we haven’t seen in this country for a long time”, he added. However, this victory does not guarantee Trump’s candidacy. In addition to going through the primaries, he will still face justice where he faces numerous charges.
