Singer Selena Gomez announced last Monday night (30) that she will be taking a break from social media. She published a note on her Instagram profile, and explained that she doesn’t feel like she’s seen the world.

In her statement, Selena said she is heartbroken by so much violence in the world. She stressed that all people need to be protected, especially children. Selena called for an end to the violence, and apologized for her words not being strong enough.

“I wish I could change the world,” she said. Selena stated that she can no longer bear to see innocent people being killed and raped. The singer stated that she will take a break from her networks in the face of so much terror experienced in the world.
