“American Life”: Madonna’s censored clip returns to Youtube

After nearly 20 years of release, this Wednesday (26), the original version of Madonna’s “American Life” video returned to music vehicles after being censored by MTV for bringing critical issues about the United States government. However, halfway through release, it was replaced by the new version that discussed the Iraq War.

Now, being available in 4k, the hit released in 2003 in conjunction with his album also named “American Life” generated several negative reviews for questioning the “American Way Of Life” method introduced in American culture. The replaced clip provides a version with an anti-fashion narrative, in which the models played victims of the Iraq War.

In view of the historic moment, which began in March 2003, and 24 hours after the release of the hit, MTV in the United States requested that Madonna’s clip be removed from the air, while there was the conflict with Iraq. At the time, the singer took a stand against the movement.
