Last Tuesday (31), through a statement released on social media and official websites, the Las Vegas Raiders announced that they had terminated their relationship with coach Josh McDaniels and general manager David Ziegler following their loss to the Detroit Lions and the team’s relegation.

“After thinking long and hard about what the Raiders need moving forward, I have decided to part ways with Josh McDaniels and David Ziegler. I want to thank them both for their hard work and wish them and their families nothing but the best,” the team said in a statement posted online.

According to journalist Adam Schefter, from ESPN, the Las Vegas Raiders are expected to sign a new contract with Antonio Pierce to take on the role of interim coach of the team, however, details have not yet been revealed. In the role of general manager, Champ Kelly will replace him.
The announcement of the departure came due to turbulent times that the team was going through as it often received few defeats and criticism from followers and fans. After the last defeat, on Monday Night Football, Mark Davis, owner of the Las Vegas Raiders decided to publicize the decision.
Before joining the team, Josh McDaniels and David Ziegler worked together in different roles as offensive coordinator and front office with the New England Patriots. The duo’s combination led to several victories for the team, including three Super Bowls in which Tom Brady was still present on the field.
